We can provide a wide range of services for sick and well patients. Remember, your pediatrician is the physician who knows your child best.

Flu Symptoms and Treatment:

Symptoms of the flu:

These include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue and sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.

Flu Treatment:

Per the CDC, if you get sick with flu-like symptoms this season, stay home and avoid contact with others.  Use Tylenol or Motrin for fever and comfort, push fluids and rest. Most people with 2009 H1N1 have had mild illness and have not needed medical care or antiviral drugs.  Despite our best efforts, coming to the office for evaluation may help in spreading the illness to others.

When to Seek Treatment:

Some families may need to contact our office for treatment.  Warning signs in children (which warrant URGENT medical care) are: fast breathing or trouble breathing, bluish skin color, not drinking enough fluids, not waking or interacting with others, being so irritable a child does not want to be held, having flu like symptoms which improve and then return with fever and worse cough and those having a fever and a rash.  People more likely be have complications from the flu include those younger than 5 (but especially younger than 2), people 65 and older, pregnant women and those with cancer, blood disorders, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disorders, liver disorders, neuromuscular disorders (such as MS or MD) and those with weakened immune systems.  Again, while healthy people can develop serious illness from the flu, most cases are mild and require home care only.
